Weatherseal International Track Meeting

Curran hits form with five wins

BRITISH points race champion Paul Curran collected five wins from the Weatherseal international track meeting at Meadowbank, Edinburgh over the weekend.

They included the 40-lap Derny-paced event which he took in a close finish from Scottish 15-kilometre champion Tom Annable, City of Edinburgh. Curran and Annable later joined forces for the 100-lap Madison, and dominated the event, winning all but one of the five sprint laps, the odd one out going to runners-up Mark Barry and Jon Walshaw, VC Nottingham.

Barry was winner of the City of Edinburgh Grand Prix, beating Scots champion Eddie Alexander, City of Edinburgh, 2-0 in the final. Third place went to Welsh champion Steve Paulding, City of Edinburgh.

A good crowd enjoyed the fine weather but strong winds kept speeds down, Barry's fastest 200 metres being 12.32.
